Research interests

Current research is mainly aimed at turbulent flows, their simulation with LES and DNS, and their control or optimization. Specific topics include

  Wind energy: windfarms and their interaction with the atmospheric boundary layer
  Indoor ventilation: simulation, optimization and control, based on large-eddy simulations
  Optimization and control of turbulence, using LES and DNS, combined with adjoint-based gradient estimation
  Subgrid-scale modeling for large-eddy simulations (LES), computational error-assessment and prediction for LES, uncertainty quantification in LES
